Terrorism combating progresses receive int'l admiration, says Shafique

Dhaka, July 29: Law minister Barrister Shafique Ahmed said Thursday that eradication of all forms of terrorism was on top of the government agenda.

He made the statement at a workshop titled 'Combating Terrorism in Bangladesh: Developing a National Counter-Terrorism Strategy,' at the Dhaka Westin Hotel

Shafique Ahmed, the chief guest, said that the country's terrorism combating progresses had received international admiration, called upon the armed forces to work to reduce terrorism. 

On the Appellate Division verdict on the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution, Ahmed said that constitution written after the Liberation War ensured human rights and secularism.

US ambassador to Bangladesh, James F. Moriarty, a special guest, said that the country had shown remarkable improvement in the establishment of democracy and reduction of terrorism.
