A News and Images report Dhaka, July 29: The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Thursday issued a warrant to the prisons authorities to produce four top Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, now detained, before it on August 2. The three-member tribunal headed by Justice Nizamul Huq issued the order after Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner AKM Shahidul Haque sent a report to the special tribunal stating that as the Jamaat leaders had already been detained in other cases, the arrest warrants issued by the court werenot executed, registrar of the tribunal told newsmen. The court, on seeing the report, ordered police to produce the Jamaat leaders on Aug 2. The four are: Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami, Secretary General Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid and two senior assistant secretaries general Muhammad Kamaruzzaman and Abdul Quader Mollah. On Monday, the tribunal issued arrest warrants against them for committing genocide, murder, rape, torture, loot, and arson during the War of Independence in 1971. |
