A News and Images report

Dhaka, July 30:Former chief election commissioner, Justice Abdur Rouf, said on Friday it would not be  wise to amend the Constitution in the name of stopping further martial law in the country.

He was addressing a roundtable on ‘Democracy and Rule of Law’ at the National Press Club in the city.

He also alleged that the constitution amendment move was intended to remove the Caretaker Government system from the constitution.
