Police to go tough on anarchy

DMP boss says vested group using RMG workers in own interest

A News and Images report

Dhaka, July 30: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner AKM Sahidul Haque Friday warned readymade garments workers against what he called creating anarchy over their new pay scale.

Speaking at a press briefing at the DMP office, he said that vandalising vehicles and indulging in anarchy in the name of protests would elicit tough police action.

He said that cases would also be filed against those engaged in anarchy, adding that a vested group wanted to shut down the garments industries.

The group wanted to put the garments business in the hands of other countries by using the workers, he added.

According to him, that group was using the workers to create anarchy.
