Hannan terms AL govt fraud

Try Tikka Khan the main war criminal, he says

A News and Images report

Dhaka, July 30: BNP Standing Committee member retired Brig. Gen Hannan Shah claimed on Friady that the BDR charge sheet was what he termed an error and politically motivated.

It was prepared to target certain issues and persons, he added.

He was addressing a briefing titled ‘Pilkhana Army Killing, a funny charge sheet, target Bangladesh,’ at Dhaka Reporter's Unity in the city.

Hannan Shah also alleged that the main objective of the Pilkhana killing was to destroy the fair and strong armed forces of the country.

The AL government saved the BDR mutineers by not deploying the army during the gruesome incident, he went on.

He also warned the government saying that the ruling AL would have to face trial for its 'illegal activities' and that the trial would be held under general law, not under any special tribunal.

Terming each and every member of the AL government 'fraud,’ he urged the mass people to protest against the government.

Referring to the trial of war criminals, he said that if the government wanted to try the war criminals, it should bring Tikka Khan back to the country as he was the main war criminal of the 1971 liberation war.

Another BNP leader, Joynal Abedin Faruq, said that the present government was trying to foil the tradition of caretaker government through amending the constitution.

The countrymen would not accept such 'conspiracy,' he warned.
